Scopa is an Italian card game that I learned growing up. I didn't learn gin rummy or bridge...but scopa!!
The link below contains some nice pictures of the classic deck and the standard rules. It is a fun, easy game ideally enjoyed with a nice glass of brunello! You will see men playing scopa outside little cafes and taverns all over Italy.

Many towns and regions have their own scopa decks and it's fun to collect different decks from the places you've gone. I have several and the pictures on each are completely different from one another. A deck of scopa cards can make a good souvenir or gift and it's inexpensive and easy to carry. You can usually find scopa decks in a tabacchi shop.
Thanks Martha - I didn't know that. That's great info!!
